Shirley King

20100627 Shirley and Chaos

In October 1998, Shirley King and Tricia Field decided to set up their own animal charity and called it STARescue (Shirley and Tricia's animal rescue). In June 1999 the charities commission granted us charity status.

Shirley King looks after most of the the animals that come into the rescue, including all the cats (as well as any wildlife that comes in). Shirley also organises several people who look after their “specialist animal subject” at their own homes, as this means we can ensure each type of animal gets the best possible care.

The rescue's rabbits are cared for by Doreen Chapman in South Ham, Basingstoke, and Claire and Roy Shuttleworth care for all the ferrets that come into the centre.
