Registered charity No:1075974
Then this scheme allows you to help us by donating the proceeds to STARescue.
STARescue is a small animal rescue, with its home base in Basingstoke, where Shirley King looks after the Rescues’ cats (as well as any wildlife that comes in). Shirley has run the Rescue since 1998 and organises several people who look after their “specialist subject” at their own homes, as we can ensure each type of animal gets the best possible care. STA Ferret Rescue is one of the specialist centres we operate.
In June 1999 the charities commission granted us charity status. Shirley and the committee work on a voluntary basis (none of us gets paid a salary) and all monies raised, either through fundraising or donations, goes towards the welfare of the animals.
We are currently trying to raise £1m to purchase 3 acres of land and build a permanent animal shelter with reduced cost clinic in or around Basingstoke for the people and animals of Hampshire and Berkshire.
All they need is a couple of minutes to go through your details and any questions. Once they have your okay, Giveacar will organise a collection agent who calls you to arrange a convenient pick-up time (you don’t even have to be there). Just confirm you wish to donate the proceeds to STARESCUE.
A tow truck usually arrives within 1 to 3 days to pick up your car, though in a few rare cases it may take up to 10 days.
Your car is sent to scrap or auction. Giveacar then donate all the proceeds, after administrative costs, to STARescue.
Giveacar will send you a receipt for your donation, and so will we. Both of these receipts should arrive within 6 weeks.
Every vehicle is different, but they all will create a valuable donation. If your car’s roadworthy, Giveacar may be able to raise much more by selling it at auction. They deal with hundreds of cars, so know how to get the best value – often trade prices which are higher than private sales.
YES. Every vehicle is worth something, and not just cars – Giveacar take vans, motorbikes and lorries as well. It’s an easy way to get rid of a problem and raise money for a good cause, and at no cost to you. Giveacar guarantee a return for every car - regardless of condition. They say they can turn even the scruffiest of cars into a donation so please do not think your car is valueless!
Giveacar deduct 25% of the amount they receive when your car is auctioned or sold for scrap, plus VAT. So for example, if they receive £100 for your car, their administration fee is £25, £5 is deducted for VAT, and the balance of £70 is donated to STARescue. Their administration fee covers the costs of running their office, employing staff and promoting the Giveacar service, mainly through advertising on the internet. The fee does not cover the collection of vehicles – this is borne by their collection agents
YOU DON'T PAY ANYTHING, not even to scrap your car.
Giveacar will ask you to present your registration document (V5C) when the car is collected. If you can’t find it, don’t worry – they can still arrange the collection. There’s no need for your car to have a valid tax disc or MOT – all cars are collected by tow truck so they don’t need to be licenced. Of course if you do have a current MOT certificate, it will probably increase the value of the car.
DON'T FORGET to remove the your tax disc from your vehicle if it is sill valid so you can apply for a refund of road tax as the value of any unused road tax does not get included in the donation amount. More information >
